Introduction to RRC

  • RRC is dedicated to inspire curiosity, discovery, and learning about the marine environment through its unparalleled researches, collections, exhibitions, and education outreach programs.
  • The South China Sea Repository & Reference Center (RRC) resides in a special place in Universiti Malaysia Terengganu which is located at Mengabang Telipot, Kuala Nerus, Terengganu. Established in 2004, formerly known as Biodiversity Museum until 2011, then this museum’s name was changed to its current name on 1st April 2012.
  • RRC features 90,000 registered specimens, including 90 type specimens, covering all major marine phyla, many of which you may have never encountered before. Most of the specimens we have collected and deposited were obtained by our dedicated researchers, students, and educators. There are also some non-marine specimens, some of which were deposited by local people who live near the RRC
